Summer Cocktails recipe ideas

Well I can't very well tell you we've launched a Summer Cocktails plant collection, and then not tell you what to do with them, can I?!

Here are some of my favourite cocktails using the edible herbs and flowers included in our Summer Cocktails plant collections.

Bloom Gin and Tonic

Picture and recipe courtesy Bloom London Dry Gin.

Bloom gin and tonic

50ml Bloom London Dry Gin
200ml premium tonic water
4 Alpine Strawberries (<-- this is our variation on Bloom’s recipe. Alpine strawberries that you will find in our Summer Cocktails plant collection are smaller than farmed strawberries, so you might like to add a couple more for maximum impact and taste.)

Pour gin and tonic over rocks of ice. Add Alpine strawberries to garnish.

(If you've been paying attention to the Lazy Flora social media feed, you'll see that Bloom is my favourite gin and it's been the tipple me and the Lazy Flora team have used to celebrate all the Lazy Flora milestones since our very first day in business. Definitely try some if you get the chance!)

Rosemary and thyme gin

50ml gin (might we suggest you use BLOOM gin?)
25ml lemon juice
20ml rosemary and thyme simple syrup (see below for how to make this, it's easy!)
soda water
lemon wedge
sprig of thyme

First, make the rosemary and thyme simple syrup. To do this, add 2-3 sprigs of rosemary and thyme to a mixture of 250ml water and 250g sugar. Simmer until the sugar granules dissolve and thickens. Take out the herbs once the mixture has cooled (be careful because sugar is very hot!).

Shake the lemon juice, syrup and gin with ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a tall glass and top up with soda water. Garnish with thyme and a slice of lemon.

Mojito

Mojito recipe from Lazy Flora

2 limes
fresh mint leaves on a stem, and a sprig to garnish
2 tsp granulated sugar
ice
65ml white rum
soda water

Muddle the lime, mint and sugar in a tall glass to bruise mint and release the oils, and release the lime juice. Add ice and rum. Add a dash of soda water and stir well. Garnish with a sprig of mint.
