Why I love hibiscus so much

I love hibiscus so much. It's probably my favourite plant, and because I love it so much, it's even the Lazy Flora logo. It's a plant I always want to have in my life.

Why do I love it so much? I'm not entirely sure. Whenever I see one, it makes me happy in a way that not many other plants do (don't get me wrong, I LOVE all flowers and plants, but this one is a real highlight for me).

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I associate it with tropical holidays, and with carefree, relaxed times with people I love. 

Perhaps it's because of the outrageous, brightly-coloured flowers that appear on this plant in the summer.

Perhaps because it's associated with far-flung, mysterious places that I want to visit but haven't yet, like Hawaii, Polynesia, and other places of great natural beauty.

Perhaps it's because hibiscus flowers come in so many different colours and shades, and varieties. There's always a colour to suit the mood or the occasion.

Perhaps it's because having a hibiscus in my life makes me believe my life is actually more exotic and beautiful than it really is. It's a glimpse of something magical and unattainable that I'm lucky enough to have in my life.

In reality, I know it's a mixture of these things, and that it isn't particularly rational. I just know that it's a plant that I come back to time and time again. I can't really call it my spirit plant, because it's far more glamorous and exotic than I am. But I love this plant, and I hope you will too.
