Brain Cactus

This spooky, scary cactus has a distinctive shape which looks like human brains. It’s a really unique and easy to look after plant to add to your cacti/succulent collection.

This funky little plant has distinctive wavy ribbing which resembles the folds of a brain. They are small and globular in their shape, pretty slow growing, but can produce pretty flowers during spring and summer months if given enough direct light.

How to care for your Brain Cactus

Native habitat

This plant is native to Mexico.

Light and position in the home

The Brain Cactus thrives in full, direct sunlight. With that being said, be mindful of hot summer sunshine, as prolonged exposure could scorch your cactus. Place near your brightest window, a west-facing one is ideal.

Allow the soil to almost completely dry out between waterings to prevent root rot, and ensure no water is splashed and left sitting in the folds of the cactus. These plants are pretty drought tolerant, so watering every 1-2 weeks during the summer months should be fine, and reduce to approx every 3-4 weeks during the winter.
