Snake plant

Dracaena trifasciata

The Snake plant, or Mother-in-law's tongue, is one of the hardiest plants in our collection. It's a perfect plant for beginners, and for even the most seasoned plant killer. We challenge you to kill this one! It requires minimal watering, thrives in low light conditions, and basically thrives on a level of neglect that would kill most other plants.

How to care for your Snake plant

Native habitat

Native to tropical Western Africa.

Light and position in the home

Keep out of direct sunlight because they will burn very quickly. They will tolerate partial shade and even low light conditions. They like humidity, so will do well in bathrooms.

Do not overwater: wait for it to almost completely dry out before watering again. If you travel a lot, or consider yourself a seasoned plant-killer, this one's a great place for you to get started.
