It's an easy and relatively fast growing cactus, which makes it a great choice for first time plant parents or those who wish to add a not-so-demanding plant to their collection. Its a great little cactus to add to your office or living room, and one your cacti enthusiast friends will be envious of!

These plants are non-toxic to cats and dogs but be careful of sharp spines on delicate paws!

How to care for your Red Foxtail Cactus

Native habitat

Native to Bolivia.

Light and position in the home

This cactus will be happy in full sun. A bright sunny spot, on a south or west facing windowsill is ideal.


Water in the summer when the soil is dry. It is important to allow this plant to dry out between waterings. In winter, watering can be suspended or done very rarely.
