How to grow allium plants.

These easy to grow plants can be grown in the ground or in containers. Whatever you choose you should make the sure plant has a well-draining and fertile soil that receives a lot of sun throughout the day. Make sure your chosen location is sheltered from strong, cold winds that could blow over the flower spikes. When flower heads are spent you can deadhead them to keep the plants more attractive.

How often should I water my allium plants?

Alliums are a drought resistant plant that will thrive from periods of underwatering. When the weather is not too hot you will only need to water lightly once a week to keep the soil damp. In periods of hot weather, water more regularly but don't waterlog the soil or the roots and bulbs will rot.

Should I feed my allium?

There hardy plants shouldn’t require any feeding if in a good soil. In low quality soils it would be worth applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring.
