There are over 300 known species of Delphinium and they can be found in abundance throughout the Northern Hemisphere. Sometimes known as 'Larkspur' these flowering perennials are known for their large spurs of flowers that can come in all colour from stark white to powder blue and purple, The plants flower from late spring to late summer, and are pollinated by butterflies and bumble bees and will attract a lot of these pollinators into the garden. This tall, early flowering perennial Is perfect at the back of a border and brings the traditional look of a cottage garden to your space. The tall stems are covered with dark blue flowers that boast wonderfully ruffled petals making this plant the perfect way to add height and texture to your garden. This plant will require some support from a cane and is best placed in a slightly shaded area because of its height. Flowering from June to September, we recommend that you cut back flower spikes as soon as the blooms die off to encourage new growth.
