Prickly Pear Cactus | 12cm | Houseplant | Perfectly imperfect

Opuntia quitensis

£9.99
A little imperfect but still lovely! Please note this plant has some natural marks from previous, healed damage. It is a healthy plant and the marks don't cause it any ill effects. The photos show the marks on the pads.

The Prickly Pear, perhaps one of the most famous cacti of them all, is an extremely versatile and adaptable plant. Cacti are super low maintenance plants with high impact, especially when in flower.

Don't let Opuntia's prickly nature put you off, the plants are perfectly safe to handle with a little protection, using gloves when handling them will protect you from any chance of being spiked!

As with all cacti, a sunny spot on the windowsill will ensure the plant is happy and thriving.

How to care for your Prickly Pear Cactus | 12cm | Houseplant | Perfectly imperfect

Native habitat

Opuntia quitensis is a species of cactus, native to the dry central valleys of Peru and Ecuador.

Light and position in the home

Prickly pear requires full sun in order to flower and produce fruit, a bright windowsill would be an ideal location. When placed in semi shaded areas, the plant may produce less blooms.

Watering

No surprise, Opuntia needs little water to thrive throughout the year. When watering, moisten the soil but do not leave it soaking. Decrease watering during Winter.
