A low-maintenance wildflower often also called 'campion' or 'catchfly', the Silene produces clusters of delicate flowers that come in white, red or purple varieties. This easy to grow alpine works well as a middle border plant or as an addition to a rockery or moist wildflower meadow. Some varieties are known for attracting pollinators with the nectar rich flowers.
How to grow Silene
Plant in a partially shaded area with moist, but well-draining clay soil. Water enough to keep the soil damp but not boggy and avoid using fertilizer Cut back stems after flowering to encourage new growth.
