A plant as dreamy as its name, Wisteria is a long-lived vining plant which cascades spectacular blue to purple flowers. Native to China, Japan and eastern United States, wisteria’s flowers are reminiscent of cherry blossoms and it’s beautifully fragrant too - an absolute joy in May and June when it blooms.
Wisteria doesn’t like the cold, so make sure it receives plenty of sunlight. Once planted, pruning is about the only important requirement for care and being drought tolerant, wisteria requires little watering. They do appreciate some extra water between July and September though, this is when the buds are formed for next year’s flowers.
