Lazy Flora Outdoor Plant FAQs

Our outdoor plant subscriptions consist of 8 or 16 seasonally appropriate outdoor plants. You can elect to have compost delivered with your 8-plant collection or not; we always deliver 10L potting mix with our 16-plant collections.

You can choose the frequency of your deliveries: once every 1, 2, or 3 months. You can skip a month or cancel any time.

Lazy Flora outdoor plant collections are designed to last for up to three months, although some will last longer and some may be a little shorter than this. We include a mix of perennials which means they will come into bloom year after year and some annuals which means they will last for just a year. With the annuals this means you can replace and introduce new plants into your design from your new deliveries!

Lazy Flora indoor plants will certainly last longer than three months given the right care and location. Each indoor plant will require different levels of care, but we try to bring you unique, beautiful, but hardy plants that will last.

The longevity of the plants will depend on many factors, such as the amount of sunlight and shade they receive, and the amount of water you are able to give them. Different plants will also need different amounts of water. We’ve designed every single Lazy Flora box to be as hassle-free as possible, but

there’s no escaping the fact that the better you are able to care for the plants, the longer they will look great. We include specific care instructions with each box that we deliver, so you don’t need to worry about not knowing how to care for them – we’ll help you with the know-how.

At Lazy Flora we want to make gardening as easy as possible for you while still delivering beautiful and noteworthy plants. The majority of our plants are more on the low-maintenance side which helps if you’re super busy and don’t have much time. Some of our plants will require more attention than others, but we

will always give you a detailed care guide so you know exactly how to care for each one.

Lazy Flora is great for complete beginners, as well as those looking to improve their gardening skills, and the gardening novice. It’s also great for those with more advanced plant knowledge, but who are short of time, or who find it hard to get to a garden centre. We prepare plant care guides for every single plant we send out, and planting up guides, which describe what conditions the plant best thrives in and also covers

watering, humidity, flowering, etc. You might have a specific question about your plant and we have a team of gardening gurus on hand ready to help. We also have lots of blog posts about the plants we send to you and other information that you might find useful on our website.

You don’t have to know a thing about plants or gardening to be able to plant up and maintain a Lazy Flora outdoor garden or keep one of our indoor plants.

All our outdoor boxes are designed for the widest possible variety of conditions, and to thrive with absolute minimal care. We also choose relatively low- maintenance indoor plants for you as well. We’ll send you super simple step-by- step instructions on how to assemble your outdoor plants so that they look gorgeous. We’ll even send you gloves to protect your hands.

The only thing you’ll need to do is water your plants regularly. We can help you with that too: we provide care information for all the plants we supply, and we also have a hand picked selection of outdoor planters available. or by getting yourself a fancy self-watering container box (we highly recommend both!). To learn more about self-watering containers check out our blog post here.

We make everything as hassle-free as possible, from setting up your initial subscription or order to delivering to you and supporting you with planting up and caring for your plant. We also have a team of experts and a fantastic customer service team who will help you with any questions you may have

help@lazyflora.com. From start to finish our aim is to make gardening and keeping plants as easy as possible – taking away the stress and worries that can come with gardening to make it a calming and smooth experience for you.

There are a great number of variables involved with watering both outdoor and indoor plants. Temperature, humidity in the air, the type of soil, the type of plant itself are all important factors. Plants are like humans in the sense that everyone is a little bit different.

Plants need water to live so in order to ensure your Lazy Flora outdoor plants stay beautiful for as long as possible, you will need to find a way of watering your container garden, especially when the weather is hot and dry (which in the UK, I think we can assume won’t be that often;).

For our indoor plants, some may need more watering than others. With both our outdoor and indoor plants, you will receive specific guides explaining how much water is needed for each plant. Each plant requires different watering, some plants need more watering that others, but the biggest killer can actually be

overwatering. Take a look at each of our guides which can be found on our blog and in your delivery – this will give you the best information on how to care for each of your plants.

However, if you’re truly terrible at remembering to water plants, you can consider getting yourself a self-watering planter. They require considerably less watering than normal containers. If you’re interested to learn more, check outour blog post on self-watering containers. They’re actually really clever! This

doesn’t mean you can forget about watering your plants for three months, and they do require some ‘bedding in’, but it does mean you need to water them a lot less frequently than if you just had a normal container. Self-watering containers have a reservoir at the bottom of the container which stores water,

and a gauge at the top which tells you how full it is. This is especially handy if you’re planning on going away, or if you know there’s a warm spell coming up.

There are lots of beautiful plants around in winter. In our winter boxes, you might expect some bright berries and delicate winter Cyclamen flowers. You might also see winter vegetables and some seriously bold colours such as Amaryllis and Poinsettias. We might even throw in the odd miniature Christmas tree. We like to be playful so we’ll try and keep it interesting! The weather dictates massively what outdoor plants we can bring to you and when, and our professional garden designers are abreast of all trends to bring you gorgeous seasonal displays every month.

Here at Lazy Flora, we like to give you a surprise when you open your box, but we do give clues away on social media and will announce the new plants at the beginning of the month via email, on our website and social media feeds. If you really want to know what’s coming up next, please contact our customer service team who will be able to help.

As a small business, we currently don’t have the capacity to create fully bespoke boxes. However, if there is a particular plant you really don’t like, or a particular colour you really hate (I hate orange so I get that this might be a thing!) please do let us know and we can make a note on your account. We can’t promise to always adhere to this 100%, but we’ll do our best.

No – we ship the outdoor plants in small, usually plastic, pots that you will need to then plant up into a container or directly into the ground. We have a limited range of planters available to buy on our site.

Pets are a big part of our lives here at Lazy Flora, but unfortunately we can’t guarantee that our Outdoor plant collections are pet friendly. We do mark all pet friendly plants on our information leaflets when the plants are delivered. We do offer pet-friendly Indoor plant subscriptions. If that’s very important to you, go check them out!

All our Lazy Flora outdoor plants are designed to live in the widest extremes of situations possible. In all situations, you do have to use your judgement in order to best care for the plants. If it looks as though your plants are getting damaged from being blown around by a strong wind, you might like to try moving them to

a more sheltered location, if you have one. If your balcony is a sun trap, you will need to water them more often.

For a complete newbie gardener, we think it will take about 25 minutes from opening the box to a fabulous Instagram-ready moment.

We’re not talking 15-minute meal timings that only work if you’re a professional chef*. Our highly scientific tests have shown that it takes 20 minutes for a total non-gardener to plant up a large balcony box container, and have rounded up to 25 minutes in case you get a phone call in the middle, or in case your cat/puppy/toddler decides to help.

*Disclaimer: we LOVE 15-minute meals books from celebrity chefs: this is just a joke that we think our very cool Lazy Flora customers will get.

We source the majority of our plants from The Netherlands and the UK.

Every month, we choose two plants to feature as our Indoor plants of the month: one for our regular Indoor plant subscription and one for our Indoor pet friendly subscription. These plants are then sent to all our current subscribers.

Typically, our choice of plant will either be a highly desirable plant, the likes of which you might have seen on Instagram (or should that be Plantstagram?), or something slightly more unusual and unique that you might not have come across before, but that we think will surprise and delight you.

Here at Lazy Flora, we like to give you a surprise when you open your subscription plant box, but we sometimes give clues away on social media as we will announce the arrival of the new plants at the beginning of each month.

You can skip a month whenever you need to – simply let us know in advance, and we’ll set your account to skip whenever you need it to. Contact help@lazyflora.com and we can set that up for you.

All our indoor plants come in a plastic nursery planter.

When you sign up for a subscription, you have the option to choose a ‘with pot’ or ‘without pot’ option. If you choose to include a pot with your order you’ll receive a different luxury pot each month. We select one a new and unique pot each month, so you’ll never receive the same pot twice and we choose pots that fit your plant perfectly.

Our pet friendly plants are always non-toxic to cats and dogs.

This is one of the things we’re most proud of at Lazy Flora We can’t guarantee that they are non-toxic to other pets. You can choose between our regular Indoor plant subscription and our pet-friendly plants when you join, and you can switch any time. Pets are such a big part of the Lazy Flora team’s lives, and you’ll often see our pets popping up on our social media feed. So pet-friendly indoor plants have been a big concern for us ever since we launched our indoor plant subscriptions.

We look to the ASPCA’s online database of poisonous plants for guidance. The ASPCA is the American equivalent to the RSPCA, and have the largest reputable online source of pet-friendly plants that we’ve found to date. This is the standard we use for all our pet-friendly plants.

We can’t promise that they are non toxic to pets other than cats and dogs, and recommend you do your own research before allowing pets close to any plants in your home.

We source the majority of our plants from The Netherlands and the UK

Our subscription plants are only available to subscription customers, but we also have an online plant boutique where you can purchase one-off plants, indoor plant bundles, terrariums and plant pots.

Order & Delivery FAQs

Yes we do! Just because the weather is cold and wet in autumn and winter it doesn’t mean that mother-nature hasn’t got some amazing treasures up her sleeve! We seek out the absolute best of every season, and deliver a unique and uplifting outdoor garden collection every week of the year.

Plants are living things and will die if they are too hot, too cold, or if they don’t get enough water. Plants hate being transported and don’t do well in packaging for long, so it’s really important that you plant up your plants as soon as possible after receiving them. We’re talking a maximum of 24 hours in the packaging after you’ve received your delivery.

If you aren’t able to plant up the outdoor plants within 24 hours, that’s OK, but it’s important that you water your new plants within 24 hours of having received them. Plants in small plant pots dry out extremely quickly – much quicker than plants that are in a container garden – so it’s really important that you do this as soon as you can.

If you aren’t able to open your Lazy Flora box as soon as it arrives, we recommend you store it in a cool place. Depending on the weather, this might be inside or outside (i.e. if it’s super hot outside, it might be cooler keeping the box inside your house).

Lazy Flora boxes are all delivered with 24-hour shipping, so taking into account the amount of time it takes to package them up before they are collected, the plants in your box may have been in their box for a little over 24 hours before you receive them. We do all we can to protect the plants, but it’s really important

that you unpack them as soon as you can, and give them water – they will need it. This will help to ensure the longevity of your plants.

Shoot, that’s not good. Please contact help@lazyflora.com as soon as possible and we’ll see where it is. We make sure our plants are delivered on time, but if something happens that’s out of our control we may need to arrange a replacement or redelivery for you. Our courier will let you know if it has been left in a safe place or with a neighbour, but if you’re having any issues contact us directly and we’ll pull out all the stops to get your order to you.

We’re really bummed out to hear that, but we are super keen to know how to improve. Please contact our friendly customer service team at help@lazyflora.com and we’ll get back to you straight away. If there is a problem with any of your plants, please send us a picture of the plant, pot or packaging. We will replace plants that have been damaged.

Travelling is really tough on plants, especially when the weather is hot. If your plants arrive looking a little tired, the best thing you can do is take them out of the box, place them in a shady spot out of direct sunlight, give them some water and wait for 24 hours to see if they perk up. 99% of the time, this will be all they need to bounce back and look glorious again, but if you still have concerns after having done this, please drop us a line with some photos and we’ll help make sure you can perk the plants back up, or we’ll send you a replacement delivery.

We have a 30-day plant guarantee – we’re so confident in the quality of our potted plants that we will replace or refund any plants that don’t make it past the first 30 days. Simply get in contact here:

help@lazyflora.com and our team will sort this out for you.

We currently deliver to all postcodes within mainland UK. We are sad that we are not able to deliver to Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland at the present time.

If you are unsure about whether we deliver to you, please contact our customer service team who will advise you help@lazyflora.com.

Yes! Your online account page has an upcoming delivery schedule which will let you skip deliveries if you’re not going to be around or don’t want a delivery that month. You’ll need to do this a few days before orders are due to go out – if you can do this before your next payment date is scheduled (usually the first of the

month) then we can stop your order from going out and you won’t be charged. If you’d prefer us to skip a month for you, please get in touch at help@lazyflora.com

Of course – we are very flexible and understand that you might not always be around for your delivery. Simply get in contact with our customer service team who will make a note on your account. If you would prefer to skip a month entirely you can also do this in your account.

We’re sorry to hear you want to cancel your order, but we want to make this easy for you. Please email

help@lazyflora.com to request a cancellation and we will process this for you, no problem. As long as your order hasn’t already been shipped, we will cancel your order and any further orders.

If you want to update your safe place or give a specific instruction to the courier, let us know at

help@lazyflora.com and we’ll pass this information on to the driver. When you order with us you’ll be asked to tell us where we should leave your box if you’re not going to be in. We want to make this as easy as possible for you.

Our courier will also contact you with photos or information on where they have left your box if they have found a safe place. We deliver to all sorts of places– flats, apartment blocks, farms, offices, shops – very few people experience issues with missing boxes and the driver will only leave a box if he thinks it’ll be safe. However, if you do experience any issues with missing boxes just get in touch and we’ll find out what’s happened.

No – most people are out when we deliver. You can let us know your safe place and the courier will deliver your box there. The plants will then be fine in their box until you return home.

You can do this by logging into your account and updating your details there. If you are having any issues logging in or need to reset your password, please contact our customer service team who will be on hand to help.
