Plant Maintenance Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is at the heart of an exciting and fast-growing startup. Reporting to our Warehouse Coordinator, our Plant Maintenance Manager will take a lead role in stock management and quality control of all plants in the warehouse.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE

o Receiving plant deliveries.

o Checking the condition and quality of plants on delivery, reporting on any issues as soon as they become apparent.

o Monitoring and maintenance of all plants while they are in the warehouse, including watering, plant care and evasive actions where needed.

o Advising on conditions in the warehouse in order to optimise plants while they are there. 

o Ensuring infected plants are quarantined and disposed of immediately.

o Assisting team with plant identification.

Quality check before plants are dispatched.

Issuing plant passports for all our deliveries.

o Advising customer service and social media teams on plant care queries from customers and potential customers. 

o Also a member of the packaging team. Happy to get stuck in and support the warehouse packing team when time allows.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

o Extensive knowledge of indoor and outdoor plant care, common plant pets and issues, and confident at resolving them.

o You are able to advise our Warehouse Coordinator on the best possible setup for plants in the warehouse, in relation to humidity, daylight, positioning of trolleys, density of plants, and are able to provide workable and realistic recommendations for any necessary changes. 

o You have a great work ethic, are self-motivated, and have a get-things-done kind of personality.

o You don't wait to be told what to do and you're able to make smart decisions, quickly.

o Highly organised and able to manage deliveries and collections efficiently.

o Excellent communicator, both written and spoken. A lot of our communication is done online, so you need to be comfortable using online platforms.

You uphold the highest possible quality standards - you do not let any plants that are not up to our high standards out the door.

o Supportive and encouraging team player.

o Ability to cope with uncertainty and a fast-changing landscape. We're a startup: we leap on opportunity when it arises and listen hard to what our customers are telling us.

o You're comfortable with learning on the job. If something isn't working, we drop it fast and move on.

REQUIREMENTS

This role requires you to attend our warehouse in Nottingham and work in shifts alongside other team members. We have strict social distancing measures in place.

This is a part-time position initially, with scope to extend into a full-time permanent role for the right person. Available immediately.

ABOUT THE BUSINESS

Lazy Flora delivers beautiful plants, on subscription. We're like Hello Fresh for plants. We have just raised £89k on Seeders and are looking for a talented new team member to work closely with our Nottingham warehouse team, initially on a part-time contract basis. Some of this work can be done remotely, but you will need to be able to attend in person at the warehouse for many of the tasks.
